1. Purpose
The Selection Lab’s mission is to make hiring fairer, more inclusive, and more data-driven. This Ethical Policy defines the principles and standards that guide our work, ensuring that our products, services, and business practices respect human rights, promote fairness, and operate with integrity.
2. Our Commitments
2.1 Fairness & Non-Discrimination
- We design and implement assessments to reduce bias and ensure equal opportunity, regardless of gender, ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, religion, or socio-economic background.
- We regularly monitor our tools for adverse impact and take corrective measures if bias is detected.
- We apply culture-fair and accessible assessment methods, supporting neurodiverse candidates and those with disabilities.
2.2 Data Privacy & Security
- We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and all applicable privacy laws.
- We only collect data that is relevant and necessary for the assessment purpose.
- We do not sell candidate data to third parties, and all processing activities are transparent to candidates.
- Data access is strictly role-based and logged, ensuring confidentiality and security.
2.3 Scientific Integrity
- All assessments we provide are scientifically validated and meet high psychometric standards.
- We publish or make available reliability and validity documentation for all tests upon request.
- We avoid “black box” algorithms that cannot be explained or justified to clients and candidates.
2.4 Ethical Use of AI
- AI is only used to enhance fairness, efficiency, and decision quality, not to replace human judgment.
- AI-driven recommendations are always explainable and traceable.
- We prohibit the use of AI to make hiring decisions without human oversight.
2.5 Environmental Responsibility
- We operate as a climate-neutral organisation, offsetting all operational and employee-related emissions (including personal activities).
- We prioritise digital processes over physical resources to minimise environmental impact.
- Our suppliers are encouraged to adopt sustainable practices and avoid operations in CSR high-risk countries without compliance.
2.6 Integrity in Business Conduct
- We reject all forms of bribery, corruption, and unethical influence in business relationships.
- We compete fairly and respect the intellectual property of others.
- We maintain transparency in pricing and service delivery.
2.7 Employee Wellbeing & Inclusion
- We promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful working environment, free from harassment or discrimination.
- We offer flexible working arrangements to support work-life balance.
- We actively invest in diversity and inclusion initiatives both internally and in our product design.
3. Governance & Accountability
- The CEO is responsible for upholding this policy, supported by our Data Protection Officer and Compliance Lead.
- Ethical compliance is reviewed annually, with updates communicated to all employees and stakeholders.
- Any stakeholder can report concerns confidentially via ethics@theselectionlab.com. All reports are investigated promptly and without retaliation.
