The Challenge
Newpublic has supported local governments in the Netherlands by accelerating the development of young talent through their traineeship program. They also manage the selection, training, and guidance of trainees entirely for their clients. Their ambitions extend beyond young talent, offering additional programs for professionals further along in their careers.
Newpublic aimed to improve the quality of their selection process while simultaneously building a valuable talent pool. Their goal was not only to match candidates to the right positions but also to retain a pool of potentially suitable candidates for effective deployment in future roles.

Newpublic wilde de kwaliteit van hun selectieproces verbeteren én tegelijkertijd een waardevolle talentenpool opbouwen. Het doel was niet alleen om kandidaten aan de juiste functies te koppelen, maar ook om een pool van potentieel geschikte kandidaten te behouden voor effectieve inzet in toekomstige functies.
The Solution
Using assessments from The Selection Lab, Newpublic adopted a strategic approach to optimize their recruitment process and create a robust talent pool. Candidates were assessed on their competencies, motivators, and cultural preferences, with 130 individuals evaluated against a general job profile. The analysis conducted by The Selection Lab identified key traits, such as leadership, networking, curiosity, and learning ability, as predictors of success. As a result, 58 candidates were selected for the talent pool, which was stored in The Selection Lab’s portal to facilitate future placements. Within a year, 18 of these candidates were successfully hired for suitable positions, demonstrating the effectiveness of this data-driven approach to selection.

Kandidaten werden beoordeeld op hun competenties, drijfveren en culturele voorkeuren, waarbij 130 personen werden geëvalueerd tegen een algemeen functieprofiel. De analyse identificeerde sleuteleigenschappen — zoals leiderschap, netwerken, nieuwsgierigheid en leervermogen — als voorspellers van succes. Hierdoor werden 58 kandidaten geselecteerd voor de talentenpool, opgeslagen in het portaal van The Selection Lab voor toekomstige plaatsingen. Binnen een jaar werden 18 van deze kandidaten succesvol aangenomen voor passende functies.
The Results
Door de samenwerking met The Selection Lab heeft Newpublic hun selectieproces geoptimaliseerd en een duurzame talentenpool opgebouwd. Dit verbeterde niet alleen de kwaliteit van hun plaatsingen, maar stelde hen ook in staat snel te reageren op toekomstige personeelsbehoeften. Het resultaat? Grotere impact voor zowel Newpublic als hun klanten.
