Planning & Prioritisation Assessment

Everyone at work says they're 'busy'. Few can explain why. Poor planning costs time, deadlines and team trust, but most of all it costs the energy of everyone working alongside a bad planner. Good planning and prioritisation is a teachable, measurable skill, not a character trait. The Planning & Prioritisation Assessment measures in 20 multiple-choice questions whether a candidate makes concrete choices in realistic work situations. Which task first, which resource where, which risk with which deadline. The test is method-independent (works with Scrum, Waterfall or hybrid) and role-independent (works for an adviser, team lead or project manager).

3 Reasons we love this assessment

01
Method-independent
Scrum, Waterfall, Kanban or hybrid. The test measures the underlying skill of prioritising and planning, whichever framework a team uses. Efficient for organisations running different methods side by side.
02
Prioritisation as choice, not feeling
Prioritisation isn't 'what feels urgent'. It's a structured decision based on impact, urgency and dependency. The test checks knowledge of prioritisation frameworks (Eisenhower, MoSCoW, RICE) and the ability to apply them.
03
Realistic scenarios
No abstract theoretical models. The test presents recognisable situations: three deadlines on the same day, a resource that suddenly drops out, a client who wants everything today. What does the candidate do, and in what order.

Information

Prioritisation frameworks

Eisenhower Matrix, MoSCoW, RICE, Kano. The test checks recognition of which framework fits which situation, and whether the candidate sees the logic behind each model.

Deadlines and dependencies

Critical path, buffers, sequential versus parallel tasks. The structure that makes a plan robust or collapses it at the first bump.

Resource allocation

Who where, when and how much. Deciding who gets which task based on availability, skill and workload. The practical side of planning for team leaders.

Handling conflicting interests

A client wants A, the partner wants B, your own roadmap says C. The skill of clearly communicating which choice is made when, and why.

Measurement
Objectives

The Big Five Personality Model assesses key personality traits that influence behavior and performance:

Green key icon symbolizing security or access.

Prioritising under time pressure

Deciding quickly and in a structured way what comes first, what later and what not, on limited information.

Orange planet with irregular surface markings resembling craters or patches.

Planning with limited information

Building a plan when not all variables are known. Making assumptions, building buffers, revising when new information arrives.

Orange icon of a plus sign inside a dotted square.

Handling change

What does a candidate do when scope changes mid-project. Repriority, communicate, replan without throwing out the whole plan.

Green thumbs-up icon symbolizing approval or like.

Expectation management

Making clear to colleagues, clients and managers which choices were made, why, and what that means for deadlines.
