Personality Assessment, COTAN

Most personality assessments measure five traits. Extraversion, conscientiousness, openness, emotional stability, agreeableness. A solid basis, but honesty and integrity predict more strongly than almost any other trait for many roles. For finance, audit, board positions, healthcare and the public sector: without integrity, no trust. The MPT-BS from NOA-VU measures that sixth dimension. Six core dimensions, 25 sub-scales, in an online questionnaire of about 20 minutes. COTAN-reviewed, scientifically grounded, with norm groups weighted for sex, age, education level and cultural background. An assessment you can confidently put in front of procurement, works councils and legal.

Big Six, not Big Five
Alongside the well-known five traits, MPT-BS also measures integrity, broken down into honesty, sincerity and the need for status and possessions. For roles where trust and reliability weigh more than charisma or openness, that's a measurement five traits alone can't deliver.

Culturally fair validation
Diversity was explicitly considered during development. Culturally sensitive items were avoided, the language is clear and concrete, and the norm groups are weighted for sex, age, education level and ethnic-cultural background. Suitable for inclusive hiring, without having to explain later why the pool turned out so white and highly educated.

COTAN-reviewed
MPT-BS is COTAN-reviewed, the Dutch quality benchmark from the Committee for Test Affairs Netherlands (NIP). It meets the scientific standard that psychologists, works councils, procurement departments and regulators expect. For tenders and regulated sectors, a benchmark that is sometimes explicitly required in procurement criteria.

Information

Six dimensions, 25 sub-scales

The six main dimensions are measured via 25 sub-scales. Emotional stability (5 sub-scales), conscientiousness (4), extraversion (3), agreeableness (5), openness (5) and integrity (3). The report gives you both levels: the overview and the detail.

Online, about 20 minutes

A short, smoothly administered online questionnaire. The candidate is presented with statements and responds. The score lands automatically in your environment, ready for a selection decision or coaching conversation. No paper versions, no manual marking.

Norm groups for selection and coaching

Two validated norm groups, depending on the goal. The selection norms compare the candidate to applicants in similar roles. The coaching norms compare to the general working population, for coaching, development and reintegration.

Expert report with charts and words

Results come back in a comprehensive report that shows scores both in charts and in plain language. Strengths and pitfalls are explicitly named. NOA-VU requires training for correctly interpreting and feeding back the scores, depending on your experience with similar assessments.

Objectives

The Big Five Personality Model assesses key personality traits that influence behavior and performance:

Overall well-being, from emotional lability to stability. Underlying sub-scales for emotional control, self-confidence, flexibility, anxiety and anger.

Extraversion

External versus internal orientation. Sub-scales measure social courage, assertiveness and need for attention.

Agreeableness

How someone deals with others, their feelings and needs. Sub-scales for caring, harmony, social warmth, trust in others and interest in others.
